This had been an exciting and challenging project for me and my friends (N.E.A.R music). This movie is all about action, drama, comedy. So we have to be smart capturing the mood of every scene, and put it into our music. We love the movie and enjoyed the process very much. Can’t wait to watch it in the theaters.
Here is the official trailer! See it in cinema, April 14th 2016
Here is some behind the scene pictures of the music making process
Christmas 2014 I read a message on my phone from Pak Yoyo (Satrio Budiono, reputable sound editor) that there’s a movie going to be released soon and has no music scoring yet, and they’re looking for someone to make the music. Pak Yoyo asked if any of us interested (he post this message in a whatsapp group). So I instantly said “YES! I’ll do it”.
So he gave my number to the production house, and I contacted my friends to teamed up for this project.
Long story short, finally we’re official as the music scorer (penata musik) for this movie. The team called N.E.A.R Music (Nanin, Eja, Achi, Rahel)
The movie “Nada Untuk Asa” coming to theaters February 5th, 2015. Directed by Charles Gozali. It’s a great and very touching movie. I myself cried a little when I watch it for the first time :-p
So here’s a peek from my simple “home studio” during the process of making the music
Yeaayyyy finally this this movie is playing in 21cineplex theaters! We started working on this project few months ago. It was so exciting and very challenging, because this is our first time making music together for a real cinema movie.
Music by Aksan Sjuman and The Penderwicks. The Penderwicks consist of 5 young composers who share same interest in movie scoring.
And here’s The Penderwicks at the premiere held on Sunday January 5th 2014. (photo courtesy of AchiDewiLestari, left-right : Achi, Nanin, Michelle, Rahel, Areza)
So please come and watch the movie, bring your children and the whole family and watch it together. Let’s support Indonesian film, specially not so much children’s movie that we have here in Indonesia. I hope you enjoy watching it 🙂
Whoa! It’s been a long time since I wrote here..! Been busy and not in the mood for updating the blog :p
March kind of a hectic month, play piano for American Women’s Association charity event, performing in Java Jazz, JICC Saturday Night Fever Concert, performing with Nona Ria Trio in HDII seminar (Himpunan Desainer Interior Indonesia), play with Abstregio (my old band) on Jazz Culinary, and my first time composing music for FTV. My first time to have my name appear on national TV! In the opening credit “Penata Musik : Nanin Wardani” (they spell my name wrong -_-)
So here’s a part of the film, I got it from youtube, someone uploaded it. (It was aired on Trans TV, March 8th 2013)
Here’s a recording (thanks to my brother who recorded in the handycam) from the Ponpin Film Scoring Recital at Goethe Haus (Feb 17th, 2013). When I get the video recording with better audio n video quality, I will upload it again.
I composed the music for this film as my film scoring class final project. The film was directed by Ksusha Savina.
Unfortunately, after the recital I lost my original full score. I put it in the backstage, while we were having a photo session. When I went back to the backstage, it’s gone already. Don’t know who took it 😦
Untill today, I’m still hoping that I will have my original full score back to me. So please anyone who has it, give it back to me..
This recital is gonna be awesome. 6 short films, and the music will be played live. The music includes string quintet, clarinet, piano, 2 guitars, and drums. The 6 composers are : Areza Riandra, Asri Dewi Lestari, Ario Seto, Renaldi Wicaksono, Ricky Tjitradjaja and me, Nanin Wardhani. Each of us compose the music for 1 film, and conduct. (I’m very nervous, this will be my first time conducting)
For the opening there will be one classical piano performance Carolyn Alphonso and jazz performance of two original compositions by Attar Nasution and Iwan Paul.
Here’s some pics from today’s rehearsal. (Pictures courtesy of Asri Dewi Lestari). I’ll see you all at Goethe Haus on Sunday 7pm 😀
It’s so exciting to see your own name in the credit title. It means that you’re part of the team, involved in the process of making the music for the film. For me, this just happened yesterday. Got the news that the documentary film is finished, and already aired on the internet (FIMELA TV).
Please click on the following link for more details about the film 😀
To all filmmakers here’s a good news for you! You want your film to be played in the cinema all around Indonesia?
I was browsing through the internet, and then found this XXI Short Film Festival. This is a great chance for you! You just need to submit your film (deadline Dec 10th 2012), and if you pass the selection stage, all the finalists’ films will be played in the XXI theatres! The winners will be announced on the last day of the festival in March 2013. Woohoo! Continue reading →
Yesterday at the end of our film scoring class, we got an exciting announcement for our final year project.
The assignment is, we have to compose music for a short film, and then perform the music live (small orchestra + sequencer) while the film is being played, and we have to conduct the small orchestra too. We all really excited about this project, but also worried at the same time. We’re worried coz none of us has ever done something like this.
Can’t imagine the long process that we will going through. Find the right movie, discussion with the director, composing the music, programming the sequencer, rehearsal with the small orchestra etc. The thing is, me and my classmates mostly are musicians, we play an instrument. We don’t have the network to the filmmakers yet.
So now we’re looking for short film (duration +/- 10mins), any genre, no music scoring yet, movie with or without dialogues are fine.
Is there any filmmaker here that wants to get the music done for his/her film? Maybe we can create something great together 😀
