Watch 6 short films (3 from Indonesia and 3 from Philippine) while the music being played live. Free admision at Goethe Haus, Sunday Feb 17th at 7pm. I’ll see you there 😀
Here, we are playing “Lagrima Aneja”, one of our favorite pieces composed by Carel Kraayenhof, world-famous bandoneonist from The Netherlands. We first heard this piece when the Kraayenhof Tango Ensemble performed in Jakarta in October 2012, and we fell in love with it ever since.
We wanted to play this composition, but we don’t have the music sheet. So Indri (the flute player) volunteered to transcribe and make an arrangement for us! (Bravo Indri :D). We added a little “Indonesian twist” in the middle of the piece.
Since Astrid and me both are pianists, so one of us have to play another instrument. To imitate the bandoneon sound, we were going to use between melodica or accordion. None of us play violin, so we have to change it to another instrument. Finally we decided Indri play the flute, Astrid on piano and me on accordion. This is my first time playing an accordion, I even borrowed the accordion. 😛
Ho ho ho.. Merry christmas everyone!
Here’s a video for you, from Nona Ria Trio performing Jingle Bells, enjoy 😀
This was our performance on December 21st “Jazz & Perempuan” at Prime Time cafe in Bandung. It was such a fun night for us.
It’s so exciting to see your own name in the credit title. It means that you’re part of the team, involved in the process of making the music for the film. For me, this just happened yesterday. Got the news that the documentary film is finished, and already aired on the internet (FIMELA TV).
Please click on the following link for more details about the film 😀
10.11.12 or November 10th, 2012 was a very busy day (for musicians :p). Lots of events, gatherings, and weddings in that day. Traffic was crazy everywhere. One of the couple that took their wedding vow on that day was my friend from scoring class, Rio. Congrats Rio & Nisa 😀
After the wedding, I went straight to Bintaro Teras 9, to “Jazz On Culinary” music events. The event was held from 2pm until almost midnight. Lots of Indonesian well-known great musician such as Idang Rasjidi, Cendi Luntungan, Oele Pattiselano, Riza Arshad, Jeffrey Tahalele, Jilly Likumahuwa and many many more, performed here.
I myself got the chance to perform with Beben & friends ft. Inna Kamarie. Even though it was almost midnight, still it was a fun gig and I was very excited to play and share the stage with these talented musicians.
So here’s some pic from last saturday. Continue reading
Last Tuesday I got to perform with Nona Ria Trio (Nesia Ardi: voc/snare, Rieke Astari:accordeon, and me:piano). It was a fun night at SuddenJazz (every Tuesday at The Phoenix, wijaya, south jakarta).
Nona Ria music is in the style of 1920s music, a little bit of ragtime, and sound a bit old school. So here’s one of our performance video. Thanks SuddenJazz and to ms.Sachiko who recorded and upload it to youtube. Check SuddenJazz youtube channel for more videos
I was browsing through the internet, and then found this XXI Short Film Festival. This is a great chance for you! The winners will be announced on the last day of the festival in March 2013. Woohoo! Continue reading
I just went to see “Nosferatu” at Teater Besar Jakarta, TIM. Amazing! This was my first time watching film screening, with live music from the choir and orchestra.
“Nosferatu“(1922) is a silent movie by Friedrich W. Murnau, the new music was composed by Pierre Oser. It’s such an honour to have the composer itself conducting the music tonight, and to have Jakarta as the location for the world premiere.
Great composition, great performance by Batavia Madrigal Singers and Capella Amadeus, and interesting movie. The combination of the music and the film is just perfect. I hope I can do something as good as this one for my film scoring class final project (film screening with live music) *wish me luck* 😀
For you who missed it, you can go to Bandung tomorrow (Oct 7th 2012, 7.30 pm). They will perform the same thing at Aula Barat ITB. It’s better to reserve the ticket first before you go, but if you don’t, maybe they have some tickets left..kind of gambling, but it’s worth it 🙂
This past few weeks, there are lots of interesting events in Jakarta. I feel that I need to share next upcoming events, so maybe you all can go and see it. Continue reading
